Adventure Overview

On this dance trip to Brazil, you will explore the warmth of Brazilian culture, Rio de Janeiro’s famous dance and music scene, and the incredible natural beauty of Rio and Ilha Grande. Through our partnerships with top studios and instructors, we offer the unique opportunity to connect with locals and take dance classes of the highest caliber.

In the mornings, you can head to Ipanema beach or Copacabana beach, sip an acai juice, or sleep in after a night out on the town. In the afternoons, you’ll visit local sites and take Samba de Gafiera classes, Samba no Pé classes, Zouk  classes, Forro classes, Bolero classes and more. The night is your time to put your new dance skills to the test at local hot spots.

After an amazing experience in Rio de Janeiro, we will cool off with a trip to Ilha Grande (“Big Island”)—a tropical reserve with no cars, but plenty of hiking trails, boat rides to crystalline beaches and lagoons, and restaurants with live music along the waterfront. We’ll dance by moonlight in the sand where Brazil’s only Island Zouk Festival takes place.

You can look forward to …

  • Samba, Zouk, and Forro classes from some of the top instructors in Rio
  • Adventuring in nature: Improvising some steps on a mountaintop overlooking the Atlantic ocean, snorkeling in warm crystalline waters, and hiking through tropical jungles
  • A culinary class at Favela Organica, a community organization that grows its own organic produce and is working to change the community’s relationship to food and the environment in one of Rio’s most historic favelas
  • Riding the gondola to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain
  • Plenty of beach time to kick back and relax
  • Delicious Brazilian barbecue and feijoada (bean stew) accompanied by live samba
